Abstract

Background: Cesarean Section (CS) is a surgical procedure involving an incision in the abdomen and uterus for delivering a baby. CS may lead to complications such as post-delivery infections and bleeding, highlighting the need for comprehensive knowledge among pregnant women about CS. Objective: To understand the knowledge profile regarding cesarean section among pregnant women undergoing pre-operative cesarean section. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with an analytic survey design using a descriptive research design. The research sample consisted of 41 individuals selected through accidental sampling. Data collection utilized a questionnaire, and data analysis involved univariate frequency distribution. Results: Based on the research findings, the median age of respondents was 28 years. The majority of respondents had completed high school education, with 27 respondents (65.9%). Primiparous characteristics dominated the respondents, with 14 individuals (34.1%), and the majority demonstrated good knowledge, totaling 35 respondents (85.4%). Conclusion: A majority of pregnant women displayed good knowledge. This was evident from the questionnaire responses, where participants exhibited understanding regarding the definition, preparation for laboratory examinations before CS, and potential complications if appropriate postoperative care is not administered. Recommendation: Hospitals should assess the knowledge of mothers before performing CS and enhance services by providing health education, particularly focusing on CS preparation and potential complications.
