Abstract
Background : Self management in hypertension sufferers is disease management in daily life by carrying out treatment as an effort to prevent complications, but it is often found in people who are not able to carry out good self management such as Lifestyle non-compliance in hypertension sufferers. Purpose : To determine the description of self-management in hypertension sufferers in the Outpatient Unit Method : This research is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Sample of 38 respondents using accidental sampling technique. Results : The results of this research showed that the percentage of respondents who had good self-management behavior was 4 respondents (10.5%), 8 respondents (21.1%), 8 respondents (21.1%), less than 26 respondents (68.4%). The percentage of self-integration self-management results was good: 6 respondents (15.8%), 8 respondents (21.1%) were sufficient and 24 respondents (63.2%) were poor. The percentage of good self-regulation was 9 respondents (18.4%), 9 respondents sufficient (18.4%) and 20 respondents less (63.2%). Percentage of interaction with health workers and others (family, fellow hypertensive friends) was good for 9 respondents (23.7%), fair for 9 respondents (23.7%) and less than 20 respondents (52.6%). Blood pressure monitoring with a good percentage of 1 respondent (2.6%), sufficient 7 respondents (18.4%) and less 30 respondents (78.9%). The percentage of compliance with the recommended rules was good for 14 respondents (36.8%), sufficient for 7 respondents (18.4%) and less for 17 respondents (44.7%). The results of this study show that self-management behavior in hypertension sufferers is lacking. It is hoped that health workers will increase education related to self-management based on self-integration, self-regulation, interaction with health workers and others, blood pressure monitoring and compliance with recommended rules for hypertensive patients, especially in outpatients.
