Abstract

Background : Vitek 2 Compact is a bacterial and fungal identification tool that utilizes microbiology-based technology with automatic biochemical principles, while Vitek MS Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization tie of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is a bacterial and fungal identification tool that utilizes basic mass spectral fingerprints). Several studies have been conducted to compare bacterial identification of these two tools but with varying results. This study aims to determine the suitability of yeast species identification results from both Vitek 2 compact and Vitek MS tools. Objective : This study aims to determine the relationship between the suitability of the results of identification of yeast isolates using the Vitek 2 Compact and Vitek MS (MALDI-TOF MS) tools Method : This research method is observational analytic with Cross sectional approach. The subjects of this study were all samples of patients examined for fungal culture and included inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of samples of this study was 35 samples. The identification results of the two tools will be compared and analyzed using Cohens's Kappa Coefficient Test with the SPSS 29.0 application Results : From the examination of 35 samples of yeast isolates, there was no difference in the identification results of the two tools. From the results of statistical tests, the results of the p-value <0.001 and k-value 1.000 which means that between the vitek 2 compact and vitek MS (MALDI-TOF MS) tools have very good reliability (very good agreement) with k-values above 0.8 and the functions of the two tools can replace each other. Conclusion : There is a very strong compatibility relationship between the two identification tools, indicating that the functions of the two tools can replace each other.
