Abstract

Background: Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) produced by Enterobacteriaceae is the highest Multidrug resistant organisms (MDRO). ESBL detection check can use vitek 2 compact automatic tool and conventional double disk synergy method. Examination using automatic 2 compact has the advantage of being easier and more practical but more expensive than the conventional double disk synergy method which is simpler although quite complicated. Differences in methods in this examination may cause differences in examination results. Objective: This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in the results of ESBL detection examination using the automatic tool vitek 2 compact with the conventional method of double disk synergy Results: The results of the research from 97 isolates showed that there was no significant difference in the results of the conventional double disk synergy method, where the statistical test results showed that the combination of antibiotics AMC and CTX resulted in a p value of 0.125, for the combination of AMC and FEP the result was a p value of 0.063 and in the second comparison the combination obtained a p value of 1.00.Conclusion: The test results obtained no significant difference in the results of the ESBL detection examination between using the vitek 2 compact automatic device and the conventional double disk synergy method.Suggestion: Examination ESBL detection from direct samples using CHROMagar ESBL with vitek 2 compact tool from isolate.
