Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning styles of students with academic achievement in grade VI SD Xaverius 3 Palembang, according to Walter Burke Barbe's theory which divides learning styles into visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. The research subjects were 3 students with academic achievements in class VI A and VI B, who had the highest average grades in the class. Then the total number of research subjects is six students. The six students were selected using a purposive sampling technique. This type of research is qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive research approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman's data analysis technique. Data validity test was carried out by source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the learning styles of students with academic achievement in class VI of SD Xaverius 3 Palembang show a combination of learning styles. However, the most dominant learning style used is the visual learning style. Respondent 1 tends to use a visual learning style, respondent 2 tends to use a visual and kinesthetic learning style, respondent 3 tends to use a visual learning style, respondent 4 tends to use a visual learning style, respondent 5 tends to use a visual and kinesthetic learning style, and respondent 6 tends to use a learning style visual learning.
