Abstract

This cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) learning model is a learning model that is used specifically for Indonesian language subjects in order to read and find main ideas, main ideas, themes of a discourse/clipping. This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) learning model on the intensive reading ability of Class IVA students at SD Xaverius 02 Palembang. This research is a pure experimental research. Data analysis was performed using paired t-test sample analysis. The subjects of this study were all students of class IVA SD Xaverius 02 Palembang. Based on the results of research conducted in class IVA SD Xaverius 02 Palembang, it is known that there is an influence of the cooperative integrated reading and composition learning model on students' intensive reading abilities in the Indonesian subject of exposition text material for class IVA SD Xaverius 02 Palembang. It can be seen from the student learning outcomes during the pre-test, the minimum student score is 20, the maximum student score is 80, and the class average value is 52.0. While the learning outcomes at the time of the post-test, the minimum student score is 60, the maximum student score is 100, and the class average value is 81.6. It is supported by the results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t test which shows a significance value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05.
