Abstract

This study aimed to discuss the development of Mathematics HOTS problems using the kerupuk context for elementary school students in order to be able to create valid, practical, and quite effective questions (enough to have a potential effect). The research method used in this study was research design method for development studies which goes through 2 stages, namely the preliminary and formative evaluation stages. The samples of this study were 3 students for the one-to-one stage, 6 students for the small group stage, and 32 students of class 5D for the field test stage. The data collection techniques used in this study were documents, walkhroughs, interviews, questionnaires and tests. At this stage, data collection techniques were carried out in the forms of document analysis, walkhroughs, interviews and test analysis tests. This research created 10 valid questions after going through the expert review stage and the trial stage at the one-to-one stage by obtaining a valid score of 3.63. Practically after going through trials at the small group stage and filling out the questionnaire the obtained score was 2.97. Furthermore, at the field test stage the obtained score was 58.03 which quite effective (enough to have a potential effect). Thus these 10 questions can be applied for grade 5 students in the subject of building space material. Keywords: Question development, HOTS problems, kerupuk
