Abstract

Background: in the hemoglobin laboratory examination, one of the components that can reduce the cost of examination is a blood collection tube. There are expensive and cheap blood collection tubes on the market. In the laboratory, the blood collection tube that is commonly used is the BD Vacutainer tube, which is relatively expensive. There is currently a new blood collection tube, namely Vacusaka with a relatively low price. To be able to lower the inspection fee, you can choose a cheaper tube. According to ISO 15189:2012, a comparison test must be carried out to replace the use of cylinders. If the comparison results are not different, then the tube can be used for inspection. Objective: knowing the difference in hemoglobin levels in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer and K3EDTA Vacusaka tubes using a Hematology Analyzer. Methods: this type of research is observational analytic with cross sectional research design. The research was conducted in the UKMC Fikes laboratory. The samples used in this study were 30 female students. Sampling was carried out using total sampling technique. Data analysis used the Paired Sample t-test with a confidence level of 95%. Results: the hemoglobin level in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube averaged 13.15 g/dL, the hemoglobin level in the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube averaged 13.13 g/dL. Conclusion: hemoglobin levels using the BD Vacutainer K3EDTA tube were not significantly different from hemoglobin levels using the Vacusaka K3EDTA tube, p = 0.297 (> 0.05) for populations with subjects aged between 18-23 years. Suggestion : using a research population with a variety of ages, namely, children, adults, the elderly or in populations who are sick or have complaints, more subject, tools and methods with different principles.
