Abstract

Backgraound : In the laboratory examination of platelets, the patient who will carry out the examination is largely determined by the tariff. One way that can be done to reduce the examination fee is to choose a component that is relatively cheaper with reliable quality, namely a blood collection tube. There are EDTA tubes on the market that are expensive and there are cheap ones that are often used in laboratories, that is relatively expensive tubes, for example BD Vacutainer tubes, apart from BD Vacutainer tubes, there are other products that are relatively cheap, that is Vacusaka products. The selection of the tube used for platelet examination should not interfere with the quality of the examination results, so if a new blood collection tube is used, a comparative test must be carried out before it is used for patient examination. Objective Study : To Know the difference in the number of platelets in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube and the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube using a Hematology Analyzer Methods : This research uses Analytical Observational with Cross Sectional approach. The subjects of this study were 38 students. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. Venous blood collected in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube and K3EDTA Vacusaka tube, then examined using a Hematology Analyzer. The statistical test uses the Paired Sample t-test with a 95% confidence level. Results: The average number of platelets using the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube was 297,47 ×103/µl. The average number of platelets using the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube was 291,11 ×103/µl. Conclusion: There is no difference in the results of examining the number of platelets in the K3EDTA BD Vacutainer tube and the K3EDTA Vacusaka tube using a Hematology Analyzer With a value of sig 2 tailed p= 0.346 (p>0,05). Recommendation : K3EDTA Vacusaka tube can be used as an alternative tube for platelet examination
