Abstract
Background: Respiratory failure is a condition of a significant gas exchange capacity failure in the respiratory system. Mechanical ventilation becomes one of choices for giving oxygen in patients with respiratory failure in the ICU. The main problem that occurs in patients with a mechanical ventilator connected to the endotracheal tube is the occurrence of obstructions in the airway. Attempts to maintain the airway, namely with the action of hyperoxigenization and the use of closed suction. Purpose : In order to increase respiratory airway in patients with nursing-related issues pertaining to ineffective breathing patterns, this serves as a guiding reference and an important consideration for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and relevant healthcare institutions in formulating the initial management standard operating procedure (SOP) regarding the implementation of administration intervention on the process of closed Suction against changes oxygen saturation in intensive care unit. Method: The research employed a case research method to on the patient which mechanical ventilation with nursing issues related to clean airways aren't effective. The method aimed to describe the outcomes based on nursing care provided. Results: Test results were found that both patients were in control of respiratory failure, A level of consciousness and mechanical ventilation through endotracheal tube. There are three nursing issues being enforced., The problem with both patients is that clean airways aren't effective, In effective respiratory pattern, ventilator override interference. Acts of hyperoxygenization and the use of the given closed suction affect changing the value of the patient's oxygen saturation value. Suggestion: suction action affects changing the value of increased oxygen saturation so a hyperoxygenized intervention and the use of closed suction need to be continued until problem is solved.
