Abstract
Background: A child is someone who has grown and developed before the age of 18 and has special physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Children are individuals who experience a series of developmental changes from infancy to adolescence, one of the diseases that children often suffer from is respiratory problems or respiratory infections with symptoms such as coughing, runny nose or sore throat. The way to deal with ARI in children who have difficulty removing secretions is by applying non-pharmacology using effective coughing to expedite and clear the child's airway. Effective coughing exercises are activities to clear secretions in the airways. The goal of effective coughing is to clear the airway and prevent respiratory tract infections, increase the mobilization of secretions, and improve the airway release mechanism. Methods: The research design used is a case study approach with the subject of application of 3 respondents. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis by looking at the ability to remove secretions before and after giving an effective cough. Results: The results of this study found that before applying Effective Cough the respondent was unable to expel phlegm and did not understand how to cough properly, after applying effective cough the result was that 3 respondents were able to secrete, white in color with thick consistency and for 3 days there was a change in airway clearance respondents in the form of a reduced amount of sputum to three respondents in 3 days of implementing an effective cough. Suggestion: Researchers hope that this research can be a source of information regarding the application of effective coughing in spending secretions.
