Abstract

Background: Fever is a condition where the temperature rises above normal caused by a change in the body's temperature regulation center, namely the brain sets the temperature above the normal setting. Handling fever using non-pharmacological methods, namely with aloevera compress therapy. Aloe vera contains 95% water. With a large enough water content in aloe vera, it can be used to reduce fever through the mechanism of absorbing heat from the body and transferring this heat to water molecules thereby lowering body temperature. Objective: To find out the results of applying aloevera compresses to reduce fever in children under five Method: The method used in this case study is descriptive with the nursing care process approach obtained by the One Group Pretest Posttest design which aims to determine whether there is an effect of aloevera compress therapy on reducing body temperature in children. Results: The results of body temperature were obtained before the aloevera compress was given, namely to An. A 37.4 ˚ C and at An. D 37.6 ˚ C. After applying aloe vera compresses for 3 days, the results were An. A body temperature drops to (36.5 ˚ C) and and An An. D body temperature (36.7˚C). Suggestion: nurses need to provide health education about the benefits of aloevera compresses for children who have fever Keywords: Fever, aloevera compress, children under five.
