Abstract

Background: Fever is a symptom of all kinds of diseases, both infectious and non-infectious diseases that occur almost all over the world. Fever is also a symptom that often occurs in children. An increase in body temperature often occurs in children because their body's defense system is still weak, susceptible to exposure to bacteria or viruses so they easily get a fever. Fever can endanger the safety of children if not treated quickly and appropriately, and can cause other complications such as hyperthermia, seizures and decreased consciousness. Methods: This study uses a descriptive case study approach. The research subjects amounted to two people. The data collection instrument was carried out using an observation sheet. Results: The results of this study after conducting assessments, interventions up to evaluation showed that there was an effect in giving shallot compresses to reducing fever in children which after compressing shallots for 3 consecutive days for 10 minutes in the first responders, namely from 39 °C to 36.5°C and in the second respondent from 38 °C to 36.8°C. Conclusion: after intervention for 3 consecutive days it was concluded that onion compresses had an effect on reducing fever in children.
